You want to start your child's dentists visits and cleanings at an early age so they can grow comfortable with seeing the dentist. There are many children who become scared of the dentist and so if your toddler starts at an early age he/she will be comfortable with going to the dentist and will be more at ease with their dental visits. Most dentists recommend parents to start taking your toddler to the dentist regularly (every 6 months) at the age of 2 years.

You may be thinking, why would a child need to see a dentist at such an early age? This is surprising to many new parents and thought of as really early, the toddler has barely gotten his/her teeth. But, did you know that in the US more than 1 in 4 children has a cavity by age 4! National studies show that cavities in preschool age children is increasing and that many children are getting cavities as early as 2yrs old.

So, make sure you have your toddler brushing his/her teeth at least twice daily and flossing the same. Also, remember to check their teeth regularly yourself and set up your child's first dentist appointment at 1yr and start your regular visits and cleanings at 2. Keeping our children happy and healthy starts with good oral hygiene which is just as important as eating healthy!
When was your child's first dentist visit? Comment and let us know!
I think when a teeth is growing for a very first time. At that particular age parents should take their child to go to the dentist as a young age, before any problems arise, So that they will be unanxious from dentist as well their teeth is also checked. very informative content. Thanks...!!!

ReplyDeleteIve been convincing my little princess to go to the dentist but she has this fear same as some other children about being in a dental clinic seeing a dentist, thank you very much for posting this information,it'll be much more easier and i hope i can find a dentist in chandler which has all the information that you have provided here, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe earlier the better! Dental visit doesn’t require any “right” age. As soon as teeth start developing, it should already be checked by the dentist. As the saying goes, “prevention is better than cure,” meaning, a kid does not have to have visible decaying tooth or any oral problem before consulting a dentist, but rather, have it checked as a preventive measure. Parents play an important role in the oral hygiene of their kids.

I brought my daughter to her first visit to the dentist when she was three years old. She was very excited and I guess it’s really better to send her to the dentist at that young an age. She’s seven now and I’m so glad that we’re not having any problems with her oral health. She has pearly white teeth too! :)

I was also a little paranoid when my firstborn lost her first tooth. I thought she’s aging faster but then, after a visit to our dentist, he explained that it’s normal for the baby teeth to be replaced by the adult teeth and that age doesn’t really matter on when the teeth will be replaced. Our dentist just advised my child not to eat lots of sweets, and it kills her since she loves chocolates. Haha! Poor little girl. :D
